Nationally ranked powerhouse overpowers Dragons

Garden City/Duxbury Notebook

Harvard Stadium is a familiar place for the Duxbury Dragons, its filled with ever-lasting memories of state championships and glory.  On Saturday though, visiting New York powerhouse Garden City trounced the Dragons 10-1 and outmatched Duxbury in every area of the game.  The Trojans scored off the opening faceoff and never looked back.  The score could have been a lot different but Nick Marrocco did his best to keep it close and made a number of spectacular saves.

Garden City is a special team, they are well coached, disciplined, patient and tough.  From their substitutions to their man-up unselfish play, this team is the real deal, expect to see them make a deep run in the New York playoffs.  While the day didn't go as planned for Duxbury, coach Chris Sweet will certainly get his players to learn from this experience and better them in the long run.  These high profile out-of-state matchups are a great thing for the sport of lacrosse, especially in Massachusetts.
