BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 13, 2015) – The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that they will be playing their 15th anniversary season at Gillette Stadium, the region’s premier sports and entertainment venue in Foxborough, Mass.
“We are thrilled to call Gillette Stadium our new home to kick off the 15th anniversary season,” Boston Cannons Vice President and GM Kevin Barney said. “Gillette Stadium at Patriot Place is one of the nation’s premier sporting complexes and I am excited for our players and fans to experience Cannons games here.”
Gillette Stadium is no stranger to lacrosse events, hosting numerous youth lacrosse games and clinics, regular-season college men’s and women’s games and establishing record-breaking crowds while hosting the 2008, 2009 and 2012 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships.
“We are excited to welcome the Boston Cannons, its fans and Major League Lacrosse to Gillette Stadium for the 2015 season,” said Phil Buttafuoco, Gillette Stadium executive director of athletic events. “In addition to welcoming back the fans who attended the NCAA championships here at Gillette Stadium, the Cannons have developed 15 years worth of relationships with the New England lacrosse community. It should be an exciting season of professional lacrosse.”
The Cannons will host fans on the east side of the stadium in the lower bowl and VIP hospitality options will include both on-field seating and luxury suites. Parking at Gillette Stadium will be free for Cannons games and the fan zone will be set up prior to the start of the game for fans to enjoy while tailgating. Youth lacrosse teams will also have the opportunity to play a game on the Gillette Stadium field prior to each Cannons home game.
“Gillette Stadium is the perfect combination of professionalism and fun for fans of all ages that will enhance our game day experience,” Barney said.
Gillette Stadium is home of the three-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots and Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. Adjacent to the stadium is Patriot Place, the shopping, dining and entertainment destination featuring large boutique retailers, 17 casual to high-end restaurants and other entertainment venues.
